

LOWER LAKE — Middletown High School’s Isaac Rascon, Forrest Devine and Greyson Rockwell each won two events Wednesday afternoon during a Coastal Mountain Conference track and field meet at Lower Lake High School, the Trojans’ third home meet of the season.
Rascon’s firsts came in the 1,600 meters and 3,200. In the 1,600, Rascon had to fight off a strong challenge from Lower Lake’s Angelo Pelcastre to win in 4 minutes, 51.11 seconds. Pelcastre ran a personal-best 4:56.93. In the 3,200, Rascon easily topped the field with a time of 10:51.7. Teammate Xander Romero came in second at 12:12.06 while Lower Lake’s Jose Hernandez was third in 12:23.

Devine doubled up in the 200 and 400. He won the 200 in 24.9 while teammate Caleb Sternberg was second in 25.8. Lower Lake’s Anthony Hills finished third in 25.9. In the 400, Devine had a winning mark of 54.22 followed by Hills at 57.34.
Rockwell’s winning shotput throw was 39-2 while Lower Lake’s Elijah Cooke (37-6 ½) and Middletown’s Brody Breeden (36-6 ½) finished second and third, respectively. In the discus, Rockwell uncorked a top throw of 110-3. Teammates Roberto Chaires (94-3) and Breeden (87-0) and Lower Lake’s Cooke (84-8 ½) had the other top throws.
Other event winners were Upper Lake’s Erick Espinoza in the 100 (12.2) followed by Lower Lake’s Jon Sabela (12.5); Pelcastre in the 800 (2:15.3) followed closely by Middletown’s Isaiah Diaz (2:17.5); Lower Lake’s Thomas Jones in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 32-8. He was followed by teammate Mitchell Noble at 32-5 ½; and Middletown’s Jackson Scheibal in the long jump with a winning mark of 16-7 ½ followed by Lower Lake’s Noble (16-5) and Middletown’s Devine (16-5).
Lower Lake won the 4×400 relay as Sabela, Hills, Pelcastre and Leo Brown posted a top time of 3:56.1. Middletown won the 4×100 relay (names not available) in 48.74.
Girls
Middletown’s Georgia Guerrero and Amanda Hart led the way in the girls division. Guerrero won the 200 in 28.7, finishing ahead of teammates Issy Barriga (31.5) and Sophia Rivera (32.3) and Lower Lake’s Gabby Pelcastre (33.6). Guerrero also won the 400 in 1:10.6.

Hart finished first to Lower Lake Katelyn Ferrell’s second in both the discus and shotput. In the discus, Hart had a winning throw of 70-4 to Ferrell’s 59-2 while Lower Lake’s Brooke Kuykendall, competing in her first meet, was third at 42-0. In the shotput, Hart won with 27-10 to Ferrell’s 23-3 ½. Middletown’s Erica Kinsel came in third at 18-7.
Kinsel won the 800 in 3:21.5, edging out teammate Nicole Pyzer (3:21.8) with Molly Collins of Lower Lake third at 3:41.8. Pyzer turned the tables in the 1,600, with a winning time of 6:30.5 to Kinsel’s runner-up finish of 6:55.6. Middletown’s Mariah Ketchum was third in 7:01.4.
Other event winners were Barriga in the 100 (14.9) where she beat out Pelcastre (15.17), Rivera (15.18) and Upper Lake’s Treasure Hodges (16.7). Hodges won the long jump in 11-2 with Kuykendall (10-1/2) second and Upper Lake’s Bella Fernandez (8-10) third.
The Middletown 4×100 relay team of Barriga, Rivera, Guerrero and Ellary Isherwood came in first at 1:21.8.

Middletown hosts Lower Lake, Tech and Calistoga next Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Upper Lake, Clear Lake, St. Helena and Sonoma Academy head to Kelseyville.
