MIDDLETOWN— Memorial Day services were held at the Middletown Cemetery on Butts Canyon Road in Middletown Monday. Nearly 100 attended service in 90 degree heat. Lake County’s Honor Team rendered a 21 gun salute followed by taps, rising the flag and then lowering it to haft-staff, Linda Diehl-Darms was the Mistress of Ceremonies, Former Lake County District 1 supervisor Jim Comstock read the names of the 200 veterans who are buried in the cemetery. Tribal Chairman and District 1 Lake County Supervisor Moke Simon III read the names of the Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians veterans who are also buried in the cemetery. The Wreaths where made by the Middletown High School Design class. There where 26 wreath contributors and the presentation of the wreaths was handled by members of Girl Scout Troop No. 10403 and Daisy Troop No. 10917. A Civil War headstone dedication was conducted by Dean Enderlin, former Dept. Commander of the Sons of Union Veterans.
