

EAST NICOLAUS — The Westshore Little League 50-70 baseball team won the District 2 title in the 11-13 age bracket this past weekend in East Nicolaus where it swept South Sutter Little League in the minimum two games of the best-of-three series.
The championship is the seventh for Westshore in the 50/70 division.
Westshore beat South Sutter 17-2 in game one behind five innings from winning pitcher Sawyer Smith, who also had a double in the victory. Johnny Gonzales hit a triple while Smith and Jace Kelley and David Cruz had doubles.
Ryken Villanueva threw out a runner at home from his position in left field, and Gonzales, Cruz and Zane McAuley combined for a 6-3-5 double play. Kelley also threw out a runner at second base, Gonzales applying the tag.
Westshore completed the series sweep with a 22-6 victory in game two as McAuley and AJ Bruch took turns on the mound.
Gonzales powered the offense with a grand slam, Bruch added a home run and a double, McAuley homered, Jesse Hayes added a triple and Smith had a double.
