OLIVEHURST — Chase Allred and Shawn Rangel combined on a four-inning no-hitter Sunday evening as the Westshore Little League 10-and-under Baseball All-Stars shut out Marysville Little League 12-0 in opening-round play at the District 2 Tournament in Olivehurst.

Westshore will play the winner of Monday night’s game between Plumas Lake Little League and Olivehurst Little League in a second-round game Thursday at 6 p.m. in Olivehurst. Plumas Lake defeated Live Oak Little League 15-5 in a play-in game Saturday evening.

Westshore scored eight runs in the first inning against Marysville, which was more than enough behind the pitching of Allred and Rangel. Allred struck out five and walked two over the first three innings while Rangel struck out the side in the fourth inning to cap the victory.

Southshore Little League is also competing in the double-elimination tournament and hosted Peach Bowl Little League in a first-round game Monday night. Peach Bowl defeated Wheatland Little League 20-9 in a play-in game Sunday evening.

Sutter Area Little League and Sutter Buttes Little League also have teams entered in the tournament, which runs through July 7 or July 8 if a second championship game is needed.
