Record-Bee Athlete of the Year candidate Jeremy Brown never got to realize his full potential with the Kelseyville Knights because of the COVID-19 pandemic that wiped out most of his junior season and shortened his senior year in 2021, but he still performed at an incredibly high level despite an injury early on in his senior season. While the Knights started 0-6 under first-year head coach Billy Shaul this past season, they turned things around in a hurry and went on to finish 9-8 overall, including 9-5 in the North Central League I standings where they were in the league title hunt almost up to the very end. Brown was a big reason why. The Kelseyville leader in ERA for three straight seasons, he finished 2021 with a 3-2 record and a 2.21 ERA. He led the Knights in appearances (8), innings pitched (47 1/3) and strikeouts (52). He had a huge year at the plate as well, batting a team-leading .520. He also led Kelseyville in hits (26), doubles (5), RBIs (23) and on-base percentage (.700), and was tied for the team lead in runs scored (18). Brown joins Middletown’s Austin Pritchard (golf), Will Aden (baseball) and Isaac Rascon (cross country/track) as one of the four finalists for male Athlete of the Year honors for the 2020-21 school year. The winner will be named early next month. (File photos)
