LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Fishing Club teams of Tyler Bryant-Payton Lyndall and Justin Gentle-Joey Gentle, all of Kelseyville, started with a clean slate Friday as the Student Anglers Federation High School Fishing World Finals and National Championships continued at Lake Hartwell, which borders South Carolina and Georgia.
While both of those teams completed their run Thursday in the National Championships without qualifying for the finals, they are still alive in the World Finals by virtue of being the top-two placing teams from California after Wednesday’s and Thursday’s preliminary rounds.
Following Thursday’s second round, the Gentle team was 65th out of the 387 teams entered with a two-day total of 12 pounds, 6 ounces. Right behind them in 66th place was the Bryant-Lyndall team with 12-5.
Second-round leaders were Jacob Rogers and William Ayscue of the South Forsyth High School War Eagles of Cumming, Georgia, with 19-6.

College scholarships of varying amounts are awarded to the top teams.
