BUCKINGHAM — Nathon Lopez captured the Buckingham Summer Junior Classic boys overall championship on Monday by carding an 87 at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.
Boys
Lopez, an incoming senior at Clear Lake High School in Lakeport, shot consistent nines of 44 and 43 to win his first overall junior title of note by 10 strokes. Last spring he received All-Coastal Mountain Conference accolades while competing in the No. 1 spot for a much-improved Clear Lake golf team.

Lopez’s Clear Lake High teammate, Miles Mattina, finished in second place overall with a score of 97. He too will be a senior at Clear Lake High School in the upcoming school year. Like Lopez, Mattina was a All-CMC golfer as well this past spring.
While Lopez was the overall Buckingham Summer Junior Classic champion, Mattina had the low score in the age 16-17 boys division. Charles Johnson, an incoming freshman at Kelseyville High School, posted the low score in the 14-15 boys flight with 110.
Girls
Defending girls overall champion Keara Alonso of Clear Lake High School retained her title by carding a nine-hole score of 60. It was her second consecutive Buckingham Junior victory. Her Clear Lake High School teammate, Sofia Arredondo, came in five strokes back with a score of 65. She won the girls 12-17 division.
