Kelseyville High School varsity football head coach Erick Larsen talks to his players during a voluntary workout Tuesday at the high school. The Knights are just days away from officially opening their 2021 season, which starts Monday with the first day of practice. Kelseyville won’t have long to wait before its first game, which is Aug. 27 against San Marin in Novato. The Knights’ other preseason opponents are Fortuna on Sept. 10 (away) and Del Norte on Sept. 17 (home). The team’s league opener is Sept. 24 at home against Clear Lake. Like all other Lake County and Coastal Mountain Conference teams, the Knights lost their 2020 season to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Kelseyville has only one player returning with any type of varsity experience, senior Jake Keithly. Kelseyville fans can get a first look at their team and other county schools Aug. 20 during the annual Lake County Scrimmage in Lower Lake. (Photos by Brian Sumpter)
