CAL FIRE Releases Glass Fire investigation report
The Glass Fire started in Napa County on September 27, 2020 at 3:48 AM and burned a total of 67,484 acres and destroyed 1,555 structures.
CAL FIRE investigators were immediately dispatched to the Glass Fire and began working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. After a very meticulous and thorough investigation, which included months of follow-up on information provided by the public, not enough evidence was available to conclusively identify the cause. The cause of the Glass Fire is currently undetermined pending any additional information or evidence that could lead to the determination of the cause.
Tinder dry vegetation and strong winds combined with low humidity and warm temperatures contributed to extreme rates of fire spread which contributed to the difficulty in determining the cause of the fire.

Lakeport Main Street Association cancels Taste of Lake County due to COVID-19
As covid-19 infections rise and due to the presence of the delta variant, the Lakeport Main Street Association (LMSA) Board has cancelled Taste of Lake County (TOLC). The event was originally scheduled for Aug 28.
With the TOLC less than two weeks away, LMSA believes that continuing with this type of eating and drinking event, although outside, would not be safe. LMSA will be reaching out to all of those who signed up to sponsor the event.
This downtown event, typically held the third week in August, was originally postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. LMSA plans to host this event in in 2022. The Pumpkin and Dia de los Muertos Festival on Oct. 2 and the Dicken’s Fair on Nov. 27 in downtown Lakeport are still scheduled to take place.
