LOWER LAKE — The Lower Lake Trojans gave it everything they had in the first half, limiting Calistoga to just three goals, but the Wildcats broke loose in the second half for a 12-2 victory in non-league boys soccer action at Lower Lake.

“We were somewhat evenly matched in the first half,” Lower Lake head coach Michael McMurtrey said.

Richie Perez scored in the first half for Lower Lake and Cristian Arroyo scored in the second half.

Lower Lake took the field minus its top keeper, Joseph Bickham, who took a shot to the head during the team’s 10-0 North Central League I loss on Tuesday at Cloverdale.

Calistoga’s offense was finally able to break loose in the second half against a young Lower Lake squad that has almost no bench to spell its starters.

“We were a bit outmatched,” McMurtrey said. “We’ve just go to do a better job of communicating on the field. We need to keep talking out there and not let adrenaline take over.”

The Trojans are back in action Thursday when they host Willits for a league game at 4 p.m.
