FORT BRAGG — Hannah Garrity won her first race of the season Wednesday afternoon as three Clear Lake High School runners made the trip to Fort Bragg to compete against Cloverdale and the host Timberwolves in the Coastal Mountain Conference cross country opener for all three teams.
Garrity, a sophomore, won the girls race on the 3.1-mile course in 19 minutes, 33 seconds.
In the varsity boys race won by Cloverdale’s Dylan Lyon in 19:23, Clear Lake junior Isaac Vigil, a first-year runner, placed fourth overall in 23:39 and was followed across the finish line by Clear Lake veteran Luis Aguilar in 25:04.
“It was a good race for them both,” Clear Lake head coach Tammy Lisk said of Vigil and Aguilar.
Garrity, who made a big splash during her freshman season this past spring (the fall 2020 season was moved to the late winter and spring of 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic), is off to another solid start, according to Lisk.
Two other Clear Lake runners did not make the trip to Fort Bragg.
Clear Lake will make its Lake County season debut next Wednesday against St. Helena and Lower Lake at the Six Sigma Ranch and Winery course. Action begins at 3:30 p.m.
