KELSEYVILLE — Diana Cortez scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the Kelseyville High School girls soccer team to a 3-2 win over the Cloverdale Eagles in North Central League I action Thursday afternoon at Kelseyville High School.
Kelseyville’s Kiara Rivas put Kelseyville ahead to stay by scoring the only goal in the first half, a shot that was assisted by Isabella Jimenez. The Knights pushed their lead to 2-0 early in the second half on a Cortez goal assists by Michelle Silva.
Cloverdale closed to 2-1 on a Isaura Alvarez goal, but Cortez scored again for Kelseyville, with Jimenez picking up her second assist of the game, to make it 3-1.
The Eagles closed the gap to 3-2 on Aaliyah Calderon’s goal later in the second half.
Boys
Cloverdale’s undefeated boys team scored three times in the second half to snap a 1-1 halftime tie and beat Kelseyville 4-2.
Aiden Rivas scored a goal in each for Kelseyville, both assisted by JC Chavez.
David Gonzalez scored goals in each half for the Eagles, who improved to 6-0 in the NCL I standings and 6-0-1 overall.
Both teams return to action Tuesday when Cloverdale visits Lakeport to play Clear Lake while Kelseyville hits the road to play Willits.
