Join the MAC this Saturday, Sept. 25 from 6-8 p.m. for a hybrid opening reception of “LIGHT” in-person at the MAC or live-streamed over Zoom. Conversations with artists begin at 6:30 p.m.

The exhibit speaks to the theme of light through diverse materials and content. It features work by five artists new to MAC, alongside longtime MAC gallery artists and Aimee Marcinko’s multi-sensory interactive installation.

Marcinko is a ceramic artist who recently completed a short-term residency at the Cobb Mountain Art and Ecology Project. Her multi-sensory installation is created with translucent porcelain, LED lights and sound sensors to produce an otherworldly experience.

“My sculptural forms and functional vessels are inspired by illusion as a form of communication from nature. They reference ambiguous biological life, unveiling hidden patterns of intelligent communication,” Marcinko said. “The work raises questions about the innate connections between human perception and the natural environment in a world where communication has become vital for survival.”

The opening reception will be hosted by MAC Co-curator, Nicola Chipps, a former Art and Design Consultant at Ærena Galleries in the Napa Valley. Masking is observed indoors.

Visit www.middletownartcenter.org for the Zoom link to the reception or watch the livestream on Facebook from MAC’s page.
