KELSEYVILLE — Running back Jamon Diggs and quarterback Johnny Cruz sparked Northshore’s running game as the Junior Cougars beat Kelseyville 26-6 in Mendo Lake Empire Junior Football League varsity action on Saturday night in Kelseyville.
Diggs rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns while Cruz scored on quarterback keepers of 37 and 17 yards. Cruz finished with 63 yards on the ground as the Junior Cougars wore down Kelseyville’s defense. Jacob Weldon rushed for 17 yards.
Also for Northshore, now 3-2 on the season, Aaron Bowman had three receptions for 33 yards and Blake Sneed had 18 yards receiving.
Anchoring a strong performance by the Upper Lake defense was Dylan Aragon at outside linebacker. Other defensive standouts were Landon Robinson, Dominic Jones, Billy Stillman, James Uden, Jamarr Jones and Jayden Smith.
In other Northshore action, the junior varsity team lost 41-7 to Kelseyville while the Pee Wee squad fell 13-6. Both the JV and Pee Wee squads are 1-4 on the season.
Northshore’s teams play at St. Helena (2-3) this Saturday.
