SANTA ROSA — Despite a slow start, the Upper Lake Cougars warmed up in the second half to beat Roseland Collegiate Prep 5-0 in North Central League II girls soccer action Wednesday in Santa Rosa.
The Cougars (3-0 league, 10-2-1 overall) held a 1-0 halftime lead before breaking the game open with four goals in the second half.
“We came out pretty slow in the first half, but basically controlled the ball on the offensive end the entire game,” Upper Lake head coach Daniella Santana said.
Karlee Zimmerschied scored four times and also assisted on a goal by Vanessa Becerra-Lopez. Paige Pruett finished with two assists and Ashlyn Rhodes had another.
Standouts for the Cougars were Zimmerschied, Becerra-Lopez and Maddy Young, according to Santana.
Upper Lake hosts Credo on Friday at 4 p.m.
