California statewide fire summary
Over 8,500 firefighters remain on the frontlines of California’s 10 major wildfires, with good progress being made on containment of the fires according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. On Monday, firefighters responded to and quickly contained 21 new initial attack wildfires. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 7,856 wildfires that have burned more than 2.47 million acres in California.
The forecast called for light rainfall on Monday across the northwest quarter of California with amounts generally less than 0.25″. Cooling this week with near normal readings today, then 5-15 degrees below normal Wednesday to Friday.
Some snow is possible Friday above 7500 feet in High Sierra. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will move across Southern California this afternoon. Most foothill and mountain locations will receive between a quarter inch and a half an inch of rainfall and most coastal and valley locations will receive less than a quarter inch of rainfall. Temperatures will cool to around five degrees above normal today. Minimum humidity will increase into the 12% to 25% range today.

LAKE AND MENDOCINO COUNTIES
Lake and Mendocino County’s Area Agency on Aging recruiting for advisory board council members
The Governing Board of Lake and Mendocino County’s Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is currently recruiting for one member living in Lake County and two members living in Mendocino County to serve on the AAA Advisory Council, and is also accepting applications for a member “at large” from both Lake and Mendocino Counties.
The Council advises the Governing Board on issues such as planning and developing community services for older adults and persons with disabilities throughout both counties. Term limits are two years and meetings are being held via the Zoom platform at this time.
Anyone interested in serving on the Advisory Council should contact the Area Agency on Aging, 707-995-4652 or aaa@dss.co.lake.ca.us, to request an application for membership.
Applications must be submitted by Nov. 15, 2021.

Redwood Credit Union gives $142,500 in grants to 7 Lake County nonprofits
Redwood Credit Union (RCU) is distributing $142,500 in grants to support the lifesaving and life-changing services of seven nonprofit organizations in Lake County.
The grants will help address the most pressing needs of vulnerable populations throughout the region, including food, housing, health, financial wellness, and workforce development.
“It takes us all working together to create a community that works for all,” says Patty Bruder, executive director of North Coast Opportunities (NCO). “RCU continues to be a strong partner, and with their help we’ve been able to deliver fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and staples to Lake County Residents with a terrific response.”
RCU invests in its communities by contributing time, energy, money, and leadership to support nonprofit organizations and groups offering meaningful assistance to improve their communities.
“Providing community support is what RCU is all about and the pandemic’s impact has underscored the need to assist even more,” said Brett Martinez, president and CEO of Redwood Credit Union. “We’re pleased to be able to support our nonprofit partners so they can keep providing vital services to help our communities succeed.”
