CLEARLAKE— At press time Friday it was announced that the Western Manufactured Housing Communities Association (WMA) Foundation has distributed $350 to 41 former residents of the Creekside Mobile Home Park in Clearlake who lost their homes during the Cache Fire this past August.

Mobilehome parks are communities. So, when tragedy strikes, WMA members want to reach out and help their park residents,” said Betsey Soderston, Treasurer of the Foundation at WMA.  “We are hopeful that these funds can provide some welcome relief to those in need of temporary assistance.”

In response to the assistance, one park resident wrote the foundation stating, “I got the $350 today. I was surprised and grateful. Thank you for all you do.”

Established in 2005, the WMA Foundation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, established for the purpose of enriching the quality of life for all persons living in manufactured housing communities in California who are disadvantaged due to income or circumstance. To date, the Foundation has distributed $337,000 to 748 mobilehome park residents throughout California that have been affected by natural disasters or other unfortunate events.

Western Manufactured Housing Communities Association (WMA) is a nonprofit trade association created in 1945 for the exclusive purpose of promoting and protecting the interests of owners, operators and developers of manufactured home communities in California.  WMA’s members collectively own, operate and control over 175,000 mobilehome spaces in California. WMA has over 1,700 member parks located throughout California.
