Tired of running past all the trash along their practice route between the Konocti Education Center and Lower Lake High School, members of the Lower Lake High School cross country team and head coach Jenna Krick decided to do something about it Wednesday afternoon as they gave back to their community by bagging up all kinds of litter along a stretch of Dam Road Extension. In a little more than two hours before they ran out of daylight, team members (top row, from left) Aiden Hernandez, Jose Hernandez, Daniel Bratton, Dylan Watson and (bottom row, from left) Ava Andrews, coach Krick, and Madison MaCall-Graves filled up 18 large trash bags and returned one shopping cart to WalMart. MaCall-Graves designed shirts for the occasion. “We’re taking pride in our community,” Krick said. Members of the Lower Lake High maintenance staff picked up the bags Thursday.
