Christmas gift baskets benefit Lake County students
The Konocti Women’s Service Club members are busy selling raffle tickets for your chance to win one or more beautiful gift baskets. Each of the eight baskets offered are overflowing with wonderful and surprising items for men, women, children, Christmas joy, a gardeners delight, a fun basket and even a pet gift basket. All monies raised from the raffle will go towards scholarships for Lake County students.
Raffle tickets are continuing to be sold in front of the Riviera Market in Clearlake Riviera on December 10, 11 and 12. The winning tickets will be drawn on Sunday, December 12 at 3:30 pm. You need not be present for the drawing and will be contacted by phone.
In the past five years, the Konocti Women’s Service Club whose motto is “For Kid’s Sake” has presented $15,000 in scholarships. The club urges everyone to purchase tickets and help our young high school students in their quest for a college education.

Lakeport Resident Graduates from Berklee College of Music
Slade Patrick Darrin, 23, of Lakeport has graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree in Electronic Music Production and Sound Design from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
During his college studies, Darrin maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA, made the Dean’s List each semester, became a lifetime member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, was awarded the honor of being listed in Who’s Who Among Students at American Universities and Colleges, and received the prestigious and competitive Berklee Allstar Undergraduate Scholarship.
Darrin has been performing music professionally since the age of nine where got his start playing piano concerts at senior homes. He has traveled extensively across the country with his family – entertaining as a trio – at resorts, festivals, and special events, as well as aboard cruise ships to Alaska and Hawaii. Since an early age, Darrin has donated a significant portion of his musical earnings to animal-welfare related charities and causes.
Darrin has appeared on national television performing aboard the General Jackson Showboat in Nashville, Tennessee, and recently treated a local, sold-out audience to a piano concert at the White Barn in St. Helena. For four years running, Darrin was a featured exhibitor at the Bay Area’s Maker Faire, demonstrating his original Electronic Dance Music for crowds exceeding 250,000 people over the weekend event. He has produced custom music tracks for pro-stage performances seen at conventions from Washington, D.C. to Las Vegas.
Most recently, Darrin has been assisting the Lake County Symphony Association with the filming and production of their virtual concerts during the Covid-era restrictions on indoor gatherings. His immediate plans are to seek freelance work in electronic music production. Other future pursuits for Darrin include working as a music journalist, a multimedia producer, and an independent music producer.
Berklee College of Music is the largest independent school of contemporary music in the world and is known as the foremost institute for the study of jazz and modern American genres. Over 250 Grammy Awards have collectively been awarded to over 100 Berklee alumni since the school’s founding in 1945. Berklee has campuses in Boston, MA, New York City, and Valencia, Spain.
Darrin’s parents are Drs. Jude Darrin and Camm Linden of Lakeport.
