ROCKLIN — Five Clear Lake High School wrestlers won their weight classes Saturday at the Whitney Classic in Rocklin where 36 teams battled it out on 10 mats.

“All the top finishers wrestled solid matches,” Clear Lake head coach Tyler Hayes said. “I’m happy with the progress. I can’t wait to test them next weekend.”

Undefeated weight class winners for Clear Lake were Mustafa Akbari (5-0), Hayden Fowler (4-0), Liam Davis (4-0) and Anthony Gersalia (4-0). Adrian Truby (3-1) won a pins criteria tiebreaker to finish first in his weight class.

Anyssa Perez (2-1) brought home a second-place medal while Jadin Vestal (1-2), Gary White (1-2) and Orel Gosman (1-2) all claimed third-place medals.

Finishing fourth with a 1-3 record was Silas Reese and Carson Wikstrom came in fifth.

Next up for Clear Lake’s wrestlers is the two-day Lou Bronzan Invitational, which opens Monday and closes Tuesday at Liberty High School in Brentwood.
