LOWER LAKE — Hitting 12 of 17 free throws in the fourth quarter, most of those in the final three minutes, the Lower Lake Trojans beat the Cloverdale Eagles 52-44 in North Central League I varsity girls basketball action Monday night in Lower Lake.
“It was a great team win,” Lower Lake head coach Shannon Tubbs said. “Our defense really came along tonight.”

Tiahna Tubbs led the Trojans (2-1 league, 4-7 overall) with five steals to go along with 10 points, one of three Lower Lake players to score in double digits.
“If you can get three in double figures you’ve got something working,” Tubbs said. “It was a close game until the very end, the last three minutes.”
Senior guard Margarita Cordova (11 points) went 6-for-9 from the line in the fourth quarter, Kyleigh Mock (21 points) went 4-for-6, and Tubbs went 2-for-2.
“They (Eagles) got themselves into foul trouble and we were in the double bonus two minutes into the fourth quarter,” Tubbs said. “Cordova was clutch.”
Terilyn Jo Jermany and Izabella Salazar took care of the boards for Lower Lake, according to Tubbs. Jermany pulled down a team-best 13 rebounds to go along with seven points while Salazar had nine rebounds.
Lower Lake led 12-10 after one quarter and 23-21 at the half. Cloverdale took a 36-33 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Trojans had five 3-pointers, of which Mock had three and Tubbs the other two.
Lower Lake travels to Willits on Wednesday and stays on the road Friday to play Roseland University Prep in Santa Rosa.
