UPPER LAKE — Jon Barnes led the way with 14 points on Tuesday night as the Upper Lake High School junior varsity boys basketball team knocked off Grace Academy 46-40 in North Central League II action at Upper Lake High School.

“It was a good game, a hard-fought game,” Upper Lake head coach Thomas Santana said.

Upper Lake improved to 2-0 in league and 2-1 overall with the win.

Adrian Avalos joined Barnes in double digits for Upper Lake with 12 points, all coming on 3-pointers.

The Cougars return to action Friday in Santa Rosa against Victory Christian Academy at 6 p.m.

Varsity

Upper Lake’s varsity boys squad lost to Technology of Rohnert Park in NCL II action in Tuesday’s late game. The final score and other game details were not reported. The Cougars are 0-3 in league play and 6-7 overall.

The Cougars host Roseland Collegiate Prep in NCL II action Friday at 7 p.m.
