LAKEPORT— A Glenhaven man was not present for a recent arraignment hearing and the Court found no good cause for the defendant’s non-appearance in regards to a DUI (Driving under the influence) case.

The Court ordered the issuance of a bench warrant for failing to appear, with bail set in the amount of $5,000 for Nicholas Michael Neuman.

Neuman has been charged with driving with a suspended/revoked license, due to an alleged DUI.

There was a previous incident in 2020, according to information released by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy was traveling on Highway 29 near 11th Street in Lakeport.  The deputy saw a GMC Suburban being driven by Neuman, 40.  According to the LCSO, the deputy knew that Neuman was on felony probation. He also knew Neuman had felony and misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.

The deputy stopped Neuman on 11th Street near Central Park Avenue.  The officer placed him under arrest for his warrants.  The deputy also recognized a male passenger in the vehicle as Derek Wayne Stark, 31, of Lakeport.  Stark was on felony Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).

During a search, Stark was found to be in possession of an altered business check made out in his name  The deputy searched a backpack that was found near where Stark had been sitting in the car and found numerous checks, driver licenses, and credit cards, none of which belonged to him. Stark was placed under
arrest for forgery, making fictitious checks, identity theft, failing to comply with shelter in place orders, and violation of PRCS.

The deputy determined the car Neuman was driving had a false registration tab. Neuman was placed under arrest for his warrants as well as for displaying false registration, failing to comply with the shelter in place order, and violation of probation.  Neuman was booked at the Lake County Jail for this incident and has
since been released.

Neuman’s warrant remains outstanding.
