LAKE COUNTY — Three Middletown Mustangs are among four Lake County high school varsity boys basketball players to earn All-North Central League I first-team honors following the 2021-22 season.

The All-League team, as selected by a vote of the league’s coaches, features a total of eight Lake County players spread out between the first and second teams and honorable mentions.

Dylan Muller, a senior for the Cloverdale Eagles, was named the league’s most valuable player. He leads a first team that includes seniors Brody Breeden, Cole Ketchum and Luke Hoogendoorn of Middletown, Ethan Maize of Clear Lake, Gabe Wlodardzyk and Joe Faso of Cloverdale, and the first team’s lone junior, Will Meyer of St. Helena.

Second-team picks feature seniors Lucas DaCosta of Middletown and Zane Robinson of Clear Lake along with juniors Caden Axell of Cloverdale and Charlie Knight of St. Helena.

Receiving honorable mentions were junior Luke Watkins of Kelseyville, senior Mason Barnes of Lower Lake, senior Rhett Bennett of Fort Bragg, senior Leandro Sanchez of Roseland University Prep, and junior Shaun Stockley of Willits.

Cloverdale and Middletown tied for the NCL I championship while Clear Lake came in third. All three teams advanced to the North Coast Section playoffs. The Eagles also received an at-large berth into the NorCal playoffs as the No. 1 seed in Division 5.

As part of the formula used to select All-League, teams are rewarded with spots based on the number of their league wins. Middletown and Cloverdale each had four players honored followed by Clear Lake and St. Helena with two apiece and Kelseyville, Fort Bragg, Roseland University Prep, Willits and Lower Lake with one each.

The All-Lake County team, which is selected by the Lake County Record-Bee, takes into account All-League selections when picking its team but also incorporates input from both county and out-of-county coaches. The All-County team appears later this month.
