LAKE COUNTY — Four Middletown High School girls basketball players and eight Lake County players overall have been named to the All-North Central League I team for 2022.

Middletown, the undefeated NCL I champion, posted a 13-0 league record and a 19-6 overall mark in Andy Brown’s final season as the Mustangs’ head coach. The Mustangs landed four starters on the All-League team, led by senior Paige Astley, who was named co-most valuable player along with Fort Bragg senior Jacie Clavelle.

Also receiving first-team honors were a pair of Middletown underclassmen — freshman Mia Hoogendoorn and junior Jaidyn Brown. A third underclassman, junior Skylar Williams, made the second team.

The Clear Lake Cardinals, third in the league standings at 10-3, were represented on the All-League team by first-team selection Sydney Howe, a senior, and second-team selection Sierra Bruch, a junior.

Kelseyville and Lower Lake each received one honorable mention. For Kelseyville, it was senior Larue Furlani. For Lower Lake, it was senior Margarita Cordova.

Other first-team selections in 2022 were senior Lucy Hendricks and junior Maddie Triplett, both of league runner-up Fort Bragg.

Joining Williams and Bruch on the All-League second team were senior Lily Barrett of the fourth-place Willits Wolverines and senior Summer Lands of the fifth-place Cloverdale Eagles.

Other honorable mentions besides Furlani and Cordova were senior Kiley Rose of Willits, senior Lindsey Arellano of Roseland University Prep, and junior Sofia Cupp of St. Helena.

The number of All-League spots a team receives is determined by the number of league games it wins.

Upcoming is the All-County team selected by the Lake County Record-Bee, which takes into account All-League voting but also input from coaches both inside and outside of the county.
