KELSEYVILLE — Cassiti Baroni is on a pretty good roll right now. The junior left-hander pitched her second no-hitter in a row, again missing a perfect game by the margin of a single walk, as the Fort Bragg Timberwolves beat the Kelseyville Knights 19-0 in five innings in North Central League I softball action Wednesday in Kelseyville.
“She knows what she’s doing out there,” Kelseyville head coach Julie Jackson said. “She’s disciplined and knows how to pitch.
Of the 15 outs recorded by the Timberwolves, 12 were on Baroni strikeouts. She lost her perfect game with a walk to Audrey Pasalo in the bottom of the fourth inning. Pasalo made it as far as second base before the inning ended.
Baroni also pitched a no-hitter last Friday in a 8-0 win over Lower Lake.
Losing pitcher Jayden Paulich struck out six and walked three.
Jackson said Kelseyville’s effort in the field was “very sloppy.”
Fort Bragg staked Baroni to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. An eight-run third pushed the Timberwolves’ lead to 10-0. They added four more runs in the fourth and five in the fifth before the game was stopped because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Jackson praised the pitching of Paulich and the play of fill-in catcher Anastasia Ray, a last-second replacement for Ari Fossa.
“She hasn’t caught since she was 8 or 9,” Jackson said. “She did well.”
Kelseyville is now 1-3 in league and 1-9 overall. The Knights are home Friday to play Middletown (2-2, 3-6) at 4 p.m.
