Rams avenge early season loss to Middletown in middle school softball action

CLEARLAKE OAKS — Jamiya Ayers went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs as the Konocti Rams pulled away to beat the Middletown Broncos 13-1 in middle school softball action Thursday afternoon at East Lake School in Clearlake Oaks.

Middletown's Taluelah Madrid was call out for interfering with Konocti shortstop Brooklyn Tubbs as she was attempting to field a ground ball.

Middletown, a 4-3 winner over Konocti in the first meeting between the two teams last month, scored the game’s first run before Konocti surged ahead to stay in the 90-degree heat.

“They all hit well, had something to do with it (the win),” Konocti head coach Luis Perez said of his players. “And our whole defense played well, I can’t single out just one player.”

The Rams received a complete game from pitcher Aly Aguirre, who struck out six.

Kerrington Snyder went 2-for-2 for the Rams, now 2-2 in league play and 5-4 overall.

Middletown statistics were not available.

Konocti hosts Upper Lake on Monday at 4 p.m.
