CLOVERDALE — Lower Lake High School’s Jose Hernandez won the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200 Wednesday afternoon during a Coastal Mountain Conference track and field meet at Cloverdale High School.

Middletown, Technology and Grace Academy participated along with Lower Lake and meet host Cloverdale.

Varsity boys

Cloverdale edged out Middletown 86-79 in team scoring in a competitive varsity boys field while Technology was a close third with 75 points and Lower Lake came in fourth with 63.

Lower Lake scored a clean sweep in the distance events, led by Hernandez in the 1,600 (5 minutes, 16 seconds) and 3,200 (11:38.0) and teammate Leo Brown, who was first in the 800 (2:19.4).

Other firsts went to Lower Lake’s Thomas Jones in the high jump (5 feet even), Middletown’s Nadav Dicovski in the 200 (24.6 seconds), Lower Lake’s Mitchell Noble in the triple jump (37-9), Middletown’s Brody Breeden in the shotput (40-3 ¾), Middletown’s Roberto Chaires in the discus (115-8), the Middletown 4×100 relay team of Dicovski, Parker Boden, Evan Macklin and Emmanuel Montes (47.1), and the Middletown 4×400 relay team of Montes, Macklin, Dicovski and Edward Johnson (4:05.7).

Boden added second-place finishes in the 100 (11.7) and high jump (4-10), Dicovski was second in the 400 (56.4) with Boden third (57.9), Macklin finished third in the 300 hurdles, Noble came in third in the long jump (18-0), Lower Lake’s Adrian Salazar placed third in the triple jump (31-1), Chaires was second in the shotput (34-10) and Lower Lake’s Tristan Ales third (33-10 ½), and Breeden was third in the discus (99-11).

Girls

Middletown’s girls beat Technology 105-89 in team scoring followed by Cloverdale with 49 points and Lower Lake with 23.

Middletown firsts went to Georgia Guerrero in the 400 (1:07.7), Caterina Barriga in the 800 (2:50.6), Mariah Ketchum and Deisi Perez in the high jump (tied at 4-0), Amanda Hart in the shotput (28-4), and the Middletown 4×400 team of Ketchum, Barriga, Guerrero and Nicole Pyzer (4:48.0).

Also for Middletown, Guerrero was second in the 200 (28.5); Pyzer (2:52.6) and Viridiana Torres (3:12.4) came in second and third, respectively, in the 800; Barriga (6:23.0) and Pyzer (6:25.0) placed second and third, respectively, in the 1,600; Jennifer Jimenez and Crystal Montanez Rodriguez were second and third, respectively, in the 3,200; Skylar Willams came in second in the 300 hurdles (58.0); and Hart was second in the discus (69-1).

Middletown’s 4×100 team of Williams, Ketchum, Guerrero and Isabella Barriga also came in second (55.8).

For Lower Lake, Yamilet Saucedo placed third in the 200 (29.0) and Katelyn Ferrell was third in the shotput (23-1/2). The Trojans’ 4×100 relay team of Saucedo, Maya Holland, Gabby Pelcastre and Laniese Lopez also finished third (56.1).

JV boys

Cloverdale beat Middletown 97-72 in junior varsity boys team scoring.

Middletown winners were Austin Schroeder in the 400 (1:08.0), Bryan Sanchez in the 300 hurdles (59.3), Evan Harper in the shotput (35-3 ½), and Jackson Graham in the discus (66-10).

Also for Middletown, Harper came in second in the 200 (27.7) and the discus (64-10), Sanchez was second in the 400 (1:12) and third in the 110 hurdles (22.5), and Graham was second in the shotput (32-9 ½).

Schedule

Lower Lake joins Upper Lake, Victory Christian and Laytonville in a conference meet next Wednesday at Clear Lake High School in Lakeport. Middletown hosts St. Helena, Roseland University Prep and Sonoma Academy in another conference meet.
