Kerr, Cole take top honors in Won Bass pro-am

Winning pro brings 60.07 pounds to the weigh scales during three-day event

LAKEPORT — Justin Kerr of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, won the pro division of the three-day-long Won Bass California Open with a total weight of 60.07 pounds, including 21.50 pounds on Friday, the final day of the tournament.

The field consisted of 308 fishermen — 154 professionals and 154 amateurs.

Another Arizona fisherman, Brandon Morton of San Tan Valley was less than a pound behind Kerr in second place with 59.22 pounds while third-place honors went to Daniel Andrusaitis of Lakeport with 57.75 pounds.

Among other Lake County fishermen in the field, Gary Collins of Upper Lake placed 12th overall with 52.02 pounds, Paul Bailey of Kelseyville was 22nd with 49.79 pounds, Jackson Juarez of Kelseyville was 27th with 49.33 pounds, and John Pearl of Upper Lake was 30th with 49.24 pounds.

In the amateur division, Dave Cole of Roy, Utah, took top honors with 57.40 pounds, Kevin Smith of Phoenix, Arizona, was second with 55.69 pounds, and Carl Limbrick III of San Diego was third with 54.51 pounds.

Jeff Stewart of Lakeport was the top-finishing amateur from County at 45th overall with 46.75 pounds.

A total of 4,222 fish were weighed in and 4,218 released back into the lake. The average final weight per angler was 41.61 pounds. Pros were paired with a different amateur partner each day of the tournament. Each pro-am team could weigh in a maximum of five fish per day for a maximum of 15 fish for the tournament. Pros and amateurs shared their weight on a given day.
