
SANTA ROSA — Clear Lake High School sophomore Hannah Garrity went up against some of the best distance runners in the North Coast Section Saturday afternoon during the Viking Track Classic at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa.
Garrity competed in the 800 meter, 1,600 and 3,200 during the day-long competition, placing as high as sixth in the 3,200. She also finished eighth in the 1,600 and 10th in the 800.
Hanne Thomsen of Montgomery High School won both the 800 (2 minutes, 15.83 seconds) and the 1,600 (4:52.98) while Athena Ryan of Sonoma Academy topped the field in the 3,200 (10:48.23). Garrity clocked in at 2:31.17 in the 800, 5:19.0 in the 1,600 and 11:50.09 in the 3,200.
Fort Bragg’s Maizie Martin placed fourth in the 800 (2:25.98).
Garrity will face Ryan again May 7 at the Coastal Mountain Conference Championships in St. Helena and could come up against Thomsen again next month during the Meet of Champions at Dublin High School.
Clear Lake’s track team returns to action Wednesday for a CMC meet in St. Helena that also includes Lower Lake, Upper Lake, Calistoga and host St. Helena.
