KELSEYVILLE — Winning pitcher Jessica Hernandez was perfect for three innings as she closed out her senior season and high school career with a complete-game effort in Lower Lake’s 13-2 win over the Kelseyville Knights in North Central League I softball action Tuesday afternoon in Kelseyville.

Hernandez struck out 11 and walked none as the Trojans finished with a 5-9 league mark and 6-10 overall record. She helped her own cause, too, going 2-for-5 with a RBI at the plate.

“It was a good game, we were able to play every single one on our team,” Lower Lake assistant coach Jeremy Mock said.

Kyleigh Mock and Jenna White also closed out their Lower Lake careers on a high note, Mock going 3-or-5 with a triple and two RBIs and White going 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Freshman Norma Tremble also had a single, running her hitting streak to a team-best seven games.

“She had a hit against every other team in the league,” Mock said.

Becca Theodorou went 2-for-5 with three RBIs for the Trojans, who staked Hernandez to a 7-0 lead after three innings.

Audrey and Debbie Pasalo each had a hit and a RBI for the Knights (1-13, 1-19), who struggled through a long season with their rebuilding club.

“We have a lot of things to look forward to,” Kelseyville head coach Julie Jackson said of a young Knights roster that features such players as freshman Olivia Hommer.

“Olivia played a great, great game on on defense,” Jackson said.

Hommer opened the game at third base before moving to shortstop.

“She really impressed me,” Mock said. “She was diving all over the place getting dirty. She’s going to be a good player in the future.”

Hommer also had a hit for the Knights.

Losing pitcher Jayden Paulich struck out seven and walked one.

Kelseyville honored its two seniors — Jessica Amendola and foreign exchange student Morgane Lardet — prior to the start of its final home game, and the Knights and their fans weren’t the only ones cheering them on.

“Lower Lake’s players were cheering, too, they even had cookies for us,” Jackson said. “They were awesome and so is their coaching staff. This Lower Lake team has the best sportsmanship I’ve seen in any team in my six years of coaching. It was a good experience for our girls to end on this note.”
