The California Coaches Association honored longtime Kelseyville High School golf coach John Berry with the Dan Fukushima Lifetime Achievement Award at its annual awards ceremony in 2022. Active as Kelseyville's golf coach for four decades, Berry also co-founded the Lake County Amateur Golf Circuit as well as serving as the tournament director of the annual Lake County Junior Amateur. Berry taught middle school, high school and junior college for 35 years before retiring from Mountain Vista Middle School as its principal in 2013. Kelseyville High won 13 Coastal Mountain Conference championships under Berry. Nineteen of his golfers have played at the collegiate level, including five PGA professionals.
