ANDERSON — Because of the rainout earlier this month at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka, the North State Modified Series hasn’t raced in seven weeks, a streak that ends June 24-25 when the series visits the Shasta County Fair in Anderson for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Night at the Races. The Anderson Logging 60-lap main event set for June 25 is the third points race of the season.
The North State cars are joining the local Legends Cars, Hornets and Bombers for a full evening of auto racing and fair-time entertainment in Anderson.
Darrin Sullivan of Kelseyville won each of the first two North State Modified Series events this season, first at Stockton 99 Speedway and then at Shasta Speedway. Trying to end his winning streak will be the likes of defending NSMS champion Scott Winters of Tracy, Keith Bloom from Anderson, Ian Elliott of Lakeport and Cameron Austin of Santa Rose. Others drivers include previous Shasta winner Cody Braund, Dustin DeRosier, Mike Sullivan, Rich Cobb, Rick Avila, Cole Brown, John Baker and Jordan Smith.
The two-day event begins Friday with a practice session from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pits open Saturday at 11 a.m. Racing begins at 7 p.m.
