Returning senior Ellary Isherwood (13) and the Middletown Mustangs should be the heavy favorites in the upcoming fall girls soccer season as the North Central League I has a new look now that Cloverdale, Kelseyville, Roseland University Prep and St. Helena have switched to winter soccer for the 2022-23 school year. Those four schools will join Sonoma Academy in the NCL I winter season for girls and boys. The new NCL I lineup for the fall girls and boys soccer season includes Middletown, led by Isherwood and Nadav Dicovski, Clear Lake, Lower Lake, Fort Bragg and Willits. Middletown’s girls had a run of 12 straight league titles snapped last season when NCL I newcomer Roseland University Prep captured the title. St. Helena, long a NCL I fall girls soccer powerhouse, was Middletown’s chief competition for the league title during its 12-year string of championships. Upper Lake’s girls, members of the NCL II, and Upper Lake’s boys, members of the NCL III, will continue to play in the fall. (File photos)
