BUCKINGHAM — Max Stine of Hidden Valley Lake and Brooke Hinchcliff of Lakeport won the overall boys and girls championships Monday during a weather-shortened 30th annual Buckingham Junior Golf Championship at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

With the temperature hovering near triple digits, the Buckingham staff made the decision to shorten the tournament from 18 to nine holes for the older golfers. The younger age groups played just five holes instead of the usual nine.

The 11-year-old Stine, a sweet swinging lefty, shot a 51 for nine holes to take home the overall boys championship. Hinchcliff, a member of Clear Lake High School’s golf team, fired a 61.

The boys division for ages 14-17 went to J.T. Allred of Hidden Valley Lake with a 54. Nate Sherman of Kelseyville finished two shots back with at 56. Par for the front nine at Buckingham is 36.

Chase Allred of Hidden Valley Lake shot a 30 to win the boys 11-12 flight. Lyle Valados won the boys 9-10 division while shooting a 39. The five-hole course par was 20.

Breanna Allan finished first overall in the girls 14-17 flight with a score of 67 while Emma Hawk was one stroke back at 68. Allan and Hawk are both from Lakeport.

The Buckingham Summer Junior co-tournament directors were Buckingham’s PGA professional, Mark Wotherspoon, and Cal State San Bernardino college golfer Matt Wotherspoon.
