The Middletown High School junior varsity and varsity cheerleading squads scored a handful of honors July 11-14 during a Spirit Spectacular Camp in Concord. Competing against mostly larger schools, the Mustangs came away with firsts for best tumbling team, best individual tumbler (Pailey Shook) and best leader (Shaylynn Sims). They also won one of the spirit capes that were awarded to the top teams. Varsity coach Sharice Sims and JV coach Kim Green led a group of 22 girls. Representing Middletown were Kate Avina, Isabel Cortez, Melanie Gerst, Hannah Gotz, Maddie Hansen, Cadence Henry, Tatyana Keppler, Amaya Long, Tina Lopez, Brooke Outen, Alexa Rodriguez, Muira Ruiz, Olivia Ruiz, Caylee Saelor, Cambria Salmina, Lila Schuster, Ameia Walker, Lexi Walker, Emily Wilson and team captains Shook, Sims and Carina Fleenor.
