Suspect arrested in bicycle store burglary; public assistance sought in locating bicycle
Early Saturday morning, Aug. 27, 2022 we responded to Konocti Bicycles on Main Street to investigate the report of a burglary. The front display window was smashed out and a $2,300 2022 Scott Scale 940 bicycle was taken by the suspect.
According to LPD, Sgt. Victor Rico investigated the case and identified the suspect as Kayden Daniel Collins, age 27, of Lakeport, CA. Wednesday morning officers located Collins near Clear Lake off the east end of First Street and arrested him for felony burglary, grand theft, and vandalism. He was booked into the Lake County Correctional Facility. The cost to replace the window is $2,000 bringing the total loss to the victim to $4,300
The bicycle has not yet been located and we are seeking public assistance regarding the whereabouts of the bicycle. Anyone with information can contact us at 707-263-5491 or email Sgt Rico at vrico@lakeportpolice.org
Collins is well known to our agency as we have had 27 interactions with him in 2022 including him being a suspect in nine cases, with seven warrants issued and five arrests. These cases include counterfeiting, domestic violence, brandishing a weapon, burglary, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Current California law prohibits posting of suspect booking photos on social media, except in cases of violent crimes as identified in California law, but booking photos and information can be located on our website at: https://lakeport.crimegraphics.com/2013/default.aspx
We appreciate the continued assistance of the public in helping us keep Lakeport safe.
