SANTA ROSA — Intimidated early on by the North Central League I-leading Roseland University Prep Knights, the Lower Lake Trojans settled down to play a solid final two sets in a 25-12, 25-15, 25-17 loss on Monday night in Santa Rosa.
“At first we were psyched out by their hits and serves, but then we got our heads in the game and fought hard,” Lower Lake head coach Kate Anderson said. “Setter Avery Adamcyk hustled and brought her A game, getting the second touch on on almost every volley.”
Katlyn Rosales had three ace and an ace for Lower Lake (0-9) while sophomore Riley Valdez held her own at the net, according to Anderson.
“She stepped up and played middle for us and played her best game yet,” Anderson said.
The Lower Lake-RUP match was originally scheduled for Sept. 6 but was moved to Monday.
RUP is 9-0 in league play this season after going undefeated a year ago, its first season as a NCL I member.
The Knights also won the junior varsity match, 25-5, 25-9.
Lower Lake played Tuesday at Kelseyville and the Trojans remain on the road Thursday to take on Cloverdale.
