LAKEPORT — Mountain Vista Middle School’s A volleyball team beat Terrace Middle School in three sets during action Tuesday night in Lakeport.
Riley Hanson served 12 aces and had six kills for Mountain Vista, Meghan Renfro added nine aces and 10 assists, and Grace Hobbs had five aces, four digs and three kills.
“We had awesome energy and all-around play from Gemma Lewis and great defense from Lorena Pantaleon and Yuri Montero,” Mountain Vista coach Sara Hanson said.
Terrace beat Mountain Vista in three sets in the B-team match. Evan Winkle had 10 aces and Kaia Bohan six for Mountain Vista. Gabby Keyes led the team with 15 digs while Brooklyn Young’s defense also was a highlight, according to Hanson.
“Both teams had great rallies and are stepping up, showing leadership and playing as a unit,” Hanson said of the A and B teams. “We are really proud of all of our athletes.”
Mountain Vista’s A team is 5-1 in league play.
During action last week, Mountain Vista’s A team beat Konocti 25-14, 25-23 and Lucerne 25-10, 25-16 behind the serving and overall play of Renfro, the passing of Lewis and Pantaleon, and Hanson’s serving.
“We have a deep team and it was great to see all the girls get out there and shine in the rotation,” Hanson said.
