KELSEYVILLE — Kelseyville High School’s cross country team wrapped up its regular season Wednesday afternoon by hosting Willits and Roseland University Prep in a North Central League I tri-meet on its 3.1-mile course.
Kelseyville defeated RUP 23-23 in varsity boys team scoring while Willits’ squad was incomplete (fewer than five runners). Willits’ Harley Lukenbill did win the boys race in 20 minutes, 34 seconds, beating RUP’s Juan Rios (20:48) to the finish line. Travis Boyles (21:34) and Alex Fordham (21:37) of Kelseyville battled it out for third place while Alexis Trejo of RUP (22:10) came in fifth.
Daniel La Count of Willits finished sixth in the field at 22:12 and was followed across the finish line by Kelseyville runners Evan Macklin (22:13), Kenneth Olson (23:00), Jason Key (23:08) and Joshua Fossa (23:57).
Girls
Savannah Lewis of Willits had a big lead in the girls race, winning in 27:17. Kelseyville’s Summer Anderson (30:07) held off Stephanie Estrada (30:20) of Willits for third place. Natalie Ruiz (31:20) and Mariana Mendoza (32:00) of RUP rounded out the top five.
Also cracking the top 10 were Kelseyville runners Ashley Hobbs, seventh in 33:32, and Alayna Boyd, eighth in 33:38.
RUP had the only complete girls team.
Schedule
Runners from all three teams advance to the Coastal Mountain Conference Championships on Nov. 9 at Spring Lake in Santa Rosa. The North Coast Section Championships follow on Nov. 19 at Hayward High School. Top finishers in the sectional meet move on to the CIF State Championships Nov. 26 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
