LAKEPORT — The playoff-bound Westshore pee wee youth football team closed out its regular-season schedule with a 33-0 win over Kelseyville during the Junior Bass Bowl series last weekend at Clear Lake High School in Lakeport.
The winners in all three games between the two teams — pee wee, junior varsity and varsity — received mini-Bass Bowl trophies similar to the award given to the winner of the annual high school varsity game between Clear Lake and Kelseyville.
The Cardinals wasted no time getting the job on Kelseyville as LJ Hopkins returned a punt 46 yards to set up a 35-yard touchdown run by Luke Percaccio on Westshore’s first possession. Percaccio scored on a 65-yard run the next time the Cardinals touched the ball.
Westshore continue to add from its lead from there. In the second quarter, quarterback Damien McCloud gained 23 yards on a bootleg to set up a 17-yard Percaccio scoring run.
In the third quarter, McCloud and Hopkins hooked up on a 36-yard touchdown pass. In the fourth quarter, Percaccio added his fourth touchdown of the day, this one on a 30-yard run.
Kevin Burrows ran for two extra points and McCloud for another. Percaccio finished with 162 yards on nine carries and was named the game’s MVP.
Westshore defensive leaders were Anthony Burrows with nine solo tackles, Michael Knight Jr. with seven solo tackles, and Anthony Fox Crespo and McCloud, each with five solo tackles.
Westshore plays Sonoma on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the pee wee playoffs at Fort Bragg High School. The winner of that game advances to the Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League championship game Nov. 5 in Lakeport against the winner of Saturday’s other semifinal between Middletown and Lower Lake at Willits High School. Both of the semifinals start at 3:30 p.m.
