KELSEYVILLE — Mountain Vista Middle School’s A and B volleyball teams bounced back from home losses on Tuesday night to Middletown Middle School to beat Lucerne on Thursday night in Kelseyville.
Mountain Vista’s A team defeated Lucerne 25-19, 25-14 after a flower presentation to all the eighth-graders in their final home match of the season.
“All around we had great serves and really played the pass, set and hit game tonight,” Mountain Vista head coach Sara Hanson said. “It was fun to watch. We have come a long way as a team. The girls have learned to work together, respect each other on the court, how to pick each other up, and how to have fun when things aren’t going their way.”
Added Hanson, “Being a team isn’t about being the best, it’s about learning to come together. We are very proud of their 7-3 record in league play and 10-4 record overall.”
Mountain Vista’s B team defeated Lucerne 25-15, 25-13.
“Our serves from the line were awesome tonight,” Hanson said. “To close out the season everyone got a chance to play and we had the opportunity to have all our seventh-graders in there to close out the match.”
On Tuesday night, Middletown beat Mountain Vista’s A team 25-15, 25-21. Middletown won the B-team match 14-25, 26-24, 15-11.
‘Our A team beat them (Middletown) earlier in the season pretty easily,” Hanson said. “Middletown has really improved and they dug up a lot of our balls they didn’t before.”
Both Mountain Vista teams close their season with the league tournament starting Thursday in Upper Lake. Final-round matches are Saturday.
