Middletown hosts McKinleyville, Clear Lake travels to Arcata

LAKE COUNTY >> The Clear Lake High School and Middletown High School girls soccer teams will both be in action Saturday during the quarterfinal round of the North Coast Section Division 1 playoffs.

The North Central League I co-champions both have first-round byes Wednesday in the nine-team field. Clear Lake, the No. 6 seed, travels to Arcata to play the third-seed Tigers Saturday at 2 p.m. Middletown, the No. 4 seed, hosts No. 5 McKinleyville Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bill Foltmer Field.

Winners advance to the sectional semifinals on Nov. 9 at the home sites of the highest surviving seeds. The Clear Lake-Arcata winner draws the winner of the No. 2 Credo vs. No. 7 Fortuna quarterfinal.

Eureka, the No. 1 seed, plays the first-round winner between No. 8 Fort Bragg and No. 9 Del Norte in Saturday’s quarterfinals. The Eureka/Fort Bragg/Del Norte quarterfinal winner faces the Middletown-McKinleyville winner in the semifinals.

The Division I championship game takes place Nov. 11 or Nov. 12 at the home site of the highest remaining seed.
