RICHMOND — Behind a balanced scoring attack in their season opener, the Lower Lake Trojans pulled away in the second half for a 70-43 win over Summit Tamalpais on Monday night in varsity boys basketball action at Richmond.
“They played stifling defense and executed as a team,” Lower Lake head coach Bryce Brin said.
Lower Lake (1-0) outscored Summit Tamalpais in every quarter. The Trojans led 31-26 at halftime and 48-38 through three quarters before putting the game away with a 22-5 fourth quarter.
Demarion Jones scored a team-high 15 points while Jett Guralas (14 points) and Buddy Felder (10 points) joined him in double digits. Micah Gurule and Charles Jones finished with eight points apiece.
“I was pleasantly surprised how well they worked as a team for the first game,” Brin said.
Lower Lake’s junior varsity team also beat Summit Tamalpais, 45-35. Luke Campbell led the Trojans with 15 points, Robert Saldana added 13 and Zach Jones had seven.
