LOWER LAKE — Demarion Jones converted a clutch three-point play in overtime as the Lower Lake Trojans, down by as many as 15 points in the third quarter, rallied to beat the St. Vincent Mustangs 66-58 in overtime on Tuesday night in non-league varsity boys basketball action at Lower Lake High School.

“We took the lead early in the overtime and kept it,” Lower Lake head coach Blaine Amos said as the Trojans improved to 2-0 on the season. “We hit a bunch of free throws to keep the lead.”

Micah Gurule, Lower Lake’s top scorer with 19 points, and Jett Guralas (13 points) combined for five free throws in overtime.

Lower Lake outscored St. Vincent 13-5 in the extra period.

“One of the best team games I’ve seen in a while,” Amos said. “It was really a team game, lots of unselfish basketball. I’m really proud of the guys.”

Dylan Sherman added nine points, all on 3-pointers, in the win while Charles Jones finished with eight points and Demarion Jones had seven.

There was no junior varsity game.
