LOS MOLINOS — Sherlyn Macias scored twice while Kat Wheelen, Jocelyn Olea and Regina Rico also had goals as the Kelseyville Knights opened their 2022-23 winter girls soccer schedule with a 5-0 road win at Los Molinos High School.
“It was a great team win,” Kelseyville first-year coach Patrick Mick said.
Kelseyville keeper Kassandra Rodriguez, a freshman, helped preserve the shutout victory with a late save, according to Mick. “She had only three touches all day, but she made a great diving save.”
The Knights are led this season by senior captains Macias, Kiara Rivas and Guadalupe Fernandez, but are otherwise a young team.
“We started seven freshmen today,” Mick said. “This is going to be a strong program down the road.”
One of the standouts against Los Molinos was freshman center-mid Angelina Vazquez, according to Mick.
“She had a great game,” Mick said.
The Knights are off until Dec. 14 when they travel to Foothill High School for a 4 p.m. game.
