REDDING — Two games and two wins so far this season for the Kelseyville High School boys soccer team, a 3-0 victor over Foothill High School on Tuesday night in Redding.
“Our defense was spectacular,” Kelseyville head coach KC White said.
Defensive backs Elliott Mayo, Tony Rivas and Jesus Ledesma figured prominently in the shutout, according to White.
“They performed really well,” he said. “Foothill had only four shots.”
Kelseyville didn’t have many scoring chances either, according to White, but the Knights made the most of the opportunities that did present themselves.
“We took advantage of our chances,” White said. “Maybe six or seven chances, but we scored three goals.”
Kelseyville (2-0) took a 2-0 halftime lead on an unassisted goal from Angel Garcia following a Foothill turnover and an Aiden Rivas goal, set up by a shot from Omer De La Cruz. Rivas collected the rebound and blasted it into the net.
In the second half, Abraham Rico headed in a corner kick by teammate Ricardo Garcia.
The temperature dipped into the 30s for the non-league game.
Kelseyville is off until Jan. 4 when it hosts San Marin of Novato at 6 p.m.
