LOWER LAKE — Leanna Ortega hit a long two-point jumper with just under a minute to play to lift the Konocti Middle School A girls basketball team to a hard-fought 27-25 win over Terrace Middle School on Wednesday night at Lower Lake High School.

“The end was just a battle back and forth,” Konocti coach Ray Milano said.

Irianna Milano and Maddy Garner hit consecutive 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to wipe out a five-point Terrace lead. While the Vikings came back to tie it, Ortega’s shot lifted the Rams to their third straight win to open the 2022-23 season.

Aly Aguirre had a team-high seven points for Konocti while Garner and Milano finished with six and five points, respectively.

In the B game, Terrace defeated Konocti 36-10, the Rams’ first loss of the season. Konocti is now 3-1.
