UKIAH — The Terrace Middle School boys B basketball team scored a 28-24 win over Pomolita Middle School on Tuesday in Ukiah, improving to 2-0 on the season.

JD Smart scored 13 points and had two rebounds in the win.

“He played a great game, attacking the basketball and controlling the defense,” coach Jeremy Hopkins said.

Nolan Buffalo contributed eight points, 13 rebounds and five blocks.

“He dominated the paint all night long,” Hopkins aded.

Eric Chavez, only a sixth-grader, contributed six rebounds and five steals.

“Our 2-3 zone really sparked our defense,” Hopkins said.

During action against Willits Charter School in its season opener at Willits, Jaxon Fiske led the way with 11 points, nine steals and six rebounds.

“He controlled the game from the point guard position,” Hopkins said.

Smart added eight points and four steals.
