SANTA ROSA — Roseland University Prep shut out the Kelseyville Knights 4-0 in the North Central League I girls soccer opener for both teams on Thursday night in Santa Rosa. The game was moved to Sonoma Academy’s turf field because RUP’s home field was unplayable following Wednesday night’s rainstorm.

RUP held a 2-0 halftime lead.

“Roseland Prep started 11 seniors and we started eight freshmen,” Kelseyville head coach Patrick Mick said.

Kelseyville standouts were Sherlyn Macias at center/mid and freshman goalie Kassandra Rodriguez.

“She was all over the field tonight and played outstanding,” Mick said of Macias. “Our keeper (Rodriguez) had nine saves and the entire defense played well.”

Mick also cited the strong play of Abigail Ortega, Mya Ogo, Xiomara Arias and Kiara Rivas.

“She played extremely hard at midfield and led some great scoring attempts,” Mick said of Rivas.

Kelseyville, now 1-2 overall, is on the road Tuesday to play Sonoma Academy.
